The 2050 Alliance is nine Australian universities united by a commitment to student success, inclusive participation, and new knowledge with purpose.

We exist to build the higher education system that students, communities and Australia will need by 2050. That means expanding access to higher education for under-represented students and communities, supporting students to develop the skills they will need to succeed in the future, and sharing the new knowledge and research that will power innovation.

Flinders University

Flinders University is making a difference through innovative research and excellence in teaching and learning. It is the only Australian university to offer Innovation and Enterprise courses across disciplines to every student, allowing graduates to emerge with the experience and critical thinking skills to succeed now and in the dynamic times ahead.

Griffith University

James Cook University

James Cook University (JCU) is one of the world’s leading universities focusing on the tropics, and is dedicated to creating a brighter future for life in the tropics world-wide through graduates and discoveries that make a difference. Its three main campuses are located in the tropical cities of Townsville, Cairns and Singapore.

La Trobe University

For more than 50 years, La Trobe University has been transforming people and societies. It puts students at the centre of everything it does, with a dual emphasis on excellence and inclusivity. La Trobe is also one of the largest providers of university education in regional Victoria, with campuses in Bendigo, Albury-Wodonga, Mildura and Shepparton.

Victoria University

Victoria University (VU) is a dual-sector university offering both TAFE and higher education, providing flexible education and pathways to support learners at all stages of their lives. They were the first university in Australia to offer the VU Block Model where students study one subject at a time for maximum flexibility.

Western Sydney University

Western Sydney University is a large, research-led university, situated in one of the most economically significant and fastest growing regions in Australia. Established in 1989, the university has over 170,000 alumni, 44,500 students and 3500 staff. Over 60 per cent of Western students are the first in their family to attend university.
